Growing up in rural Poland I reminisce of playing with mud and fire, which transferred into intentional activities such as gardening, observing nature processes, cooking on fire and building with my hands. I think secretly, pottery allows me to keep playing and never to grow up.

I found myself on a road to clay after graduating high school when I walked into a ceramic studio at the Museum of History and Archeology in Wegorzewo, Poland. That’s where I got inspired by the ancient style of ornamenting and pit-firing and found my tribe. In further migratory life events when access to the studio wasn’t always possible I finally moved to Vermont and got adopted by Brattleboro Clayworks where I enjoy being part of this inspiring community of artists.

Working in clay is a conversation between material, my hands and all the layers, conscious and intuitive as well as other people I meet and get inspired by. I find it very therapeutic in nature, that’s when the time slows and self is out on a peregrinations not yet mapped.

Sometimes I feel that it is simply for the love of tea and honey I cannot help myself but keep combining the geometry of Nature into mugs and bowls. I am in awe of the arrangement of a seedpod, pattern of a honeybee comb in the hive, circularity of river currents and tree growth.

I combine throwing on the wheel and finishing each piece by hand either by altering the shape to a hexagon or adding ornamentation.
