Annie Lauterbach

Making bowls, mugs, plates, teapots, whistles and covered storage jars that bring a little light and dance to daily life, motivates my work in clay. Each piece travels through a process that takes several weeks. My work is constructed using hand-building techniques or on the potter’s wheel. Bird and animal imagery make their way onto many of my pots; I come from a long line of bird watchers and nature lovers. Lines and patterns moving through the hand, on to the pot, is a process calms and delights me. The piece then goes into the kiln and the fire works it’s magic on your best laid plans.
